About the show

DANTE: Inferno

‘In the centre of a busy City Square nineteen year old Dante stands alone, unnoticed by the mass of humanity that swirls around him. Dante is at a crossroads.

A contemporary adaptation of Dante Alighieri’s literary classic re-created as a contemporary, site specific, multi media, large scale community production suitable for all the family. The production, which is free to audiences is being staged as part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad ‘open weekend’ event on Saturday 23 July in the heart of Leeds in Millennium Square.

...The city square seems suddenly quiet, almost frozen in time. Dante feels the gentle warmth of a hand on his shoulder and turns to see a beautiful angelic young woman. She smiles and introduces herself as Virgil...’
